Meet Mariam, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Trauma Specialist, and Somatic Therapist whose work is rooted in a simple but profound belief that healing is not just something that happens in the mind, but something that happens in the whole person. She specializes in helping women move beyond survival mode and into lives that feel meaningful, connected, and authentically their own.
Mariam's path to therapy is deeply personal. As a second-generation immigrant who moved to the United States at age 15 in pursuit of educational opportunities, she knows firsthand what it means to navigate different cultures, shifting identities, and the quiet weight of expectations that don't always align with who you are inside. Having lived in both the Middle East and the United States, she brings a rare and genuine cultural sensitivity to the therapy room, one that comes not just from training, but from lived experience. Clients from diverse backgrounds often find in Mariam someone who truly gets it, without needing everything explained.
She works with women navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges and she has particular expertise in supporting clients living with ADHD and Bipolar Disorder. She understands how these experiences can shape every corner of a person's life, from relationships and self-esteem to daily functioning and sense of identity. Rather than reducing these to diagnoses to be managed, Mariam works with clients to deeply understand their own minds, nervous systems, and patterns and to build lives that work with who they are, not against them.
What makes Mariam's approach distinctive is her deep commitment to the mind-body connection. She understands that trauma, stress, and emotional pain don't just live in our thoughts, they live in our bodies, in our nervous systems, in the way we breathe and brace and move through the world. Her work integrates Somatic Therapy, EMDR, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal-informed interventions to support healing at both the emotional and physiological level, helping clients not just understand their experiences, but genuinely feel different in their bodies over time.
Whether you are carrying the echoes of past pain, navigating the highs and lows of Bipolar Disorder, struggling with the overwhelm and self-doubt that so often accompany ADHD, wrestling with perfectionism or self-criticism, or simply knowing that something needs to change, Mariam meets you there, without judgment and without rushing. There is no one-size-fits-all approach in her work. Every client brings a unique story, and she tailors each therapeutic journey to your individual needs, strengths, and goals.
Taking the first step into therapy can feel uncomfortable, and Mariam honors that. Growth often begins exactly where comfort ends. If you are ready to explore new possibilities, deepen your relationship with yourself, and begin building a life that feels more grounded and whole, Mariam would be honored to walk alongside you, every step of the way.
